OH MY GOD!!!
AND WE'RE BACK! Wow, that sucked.............. we had some server issues, but they've been sorted out and left us with everything in tact. Our web host is THE BEST (and not just because he's a close personal friend of mine.) Anyway, sorry to leave you like that -- all in tha lurch an' stuff -- I'd love to promise it will never happen again. Ever. But well, I can't do that. It's up to the internet gods.
Secondly, the new issue will be up by Friday. We've just gained access to all of our files and so we still have to upload and test everything before rollout. So check back on Friday, and thank you all for sticking in there with us. We love you for that. Ah shucks, we love you for everything.
Mwah!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I just wanted to pop in and let you guys know that Issue 7 is going to be delayed until February 15th. This is due solely to my own personal life, and is not a reflection of the rest of the staff or our contributors. My family was relocated out of town and we were moved into a small apartment and now TODAY we are moving into our house.... my computer access has been intermittent at best and will be down completely until the end of the week. I apologize PROFUSELY to our contributors and readers for not being able to get the issue up today, but rest assured it will be up by 2/15 at the latest, and will be well worth the wait!!
As always, thanks to everyone for sticking with us and keep checking back. The issue will be up very soon!!!
Love & Kisses,
Leigh & Staff

WOW! What an issue. Issue 6 is finally ready and is truly our best yet, I think. I know, I say that every time.... but for real. The stories and poems and ART! Wow. And we have so much news to share with you guys.
First and foremost, we need to welcome THREE new members of our staff! Yep, we've doubled. We are getting so many excellent submissions, we need assistance. And we are lucky enough to have MARK LIPOWICZ, DAN MCNEIL and ANDREW TIBBETTS joining us. We now have not only men on our team, but men of the international persuasion. Lucky, lucky us. And lucky you, because this means really great things for eW. Most of you already know these guys, as they are world famous in their own rights... but just in case, there is more information HERE on the bio page.
The second big announcement is our PUSHCART NOMINATIONS! We had the hardest time narrowing things down to six, but we picked six that we truly believe have a shot at winning the big ones. Please cross your fingers for them. And, send them some love. They deserve it.
In other news... we now have an ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM. So from now on, any and ALL submissions (except for artwork) need to go through this form. But don't worry, we'll remind you if you submit incorrectly. ;)
Also, we have a NEW CONTEST. I don't want to give too much away... but it's going to be SO much fun. Check it out.
PRINT ISSUE: I've had to switch printers and so we are being delayed... however, it WILL be out in the next month or so, and after that, things will go much more smoothly. I was completely moronic to think I could just pop it into a PDF and send it off to a printer, and expect it to come back beautifully. I have (had) no idea how to do print layouts, etc. and I now understand why people get paid big bucks to do it. It's really difficult. Lesson learned. PLUS, the printer wasn't great... so I've found a new one that I hope will be better.
What else....... OH! We have a NEW SPONSOR! ATOMIC VIDEO RANCH! Just in time for Christmas! You can order video games & equipment and alot more for ultra low prices! Check 'em out. They are EXCELLENT guys and I highly recommend their product and their service.
Okay, well. I think that's it. Make sure and welcome our new staff members and ENJOY THE READ! You're in for such a treat.
Je t'aime mon amis,

Just a quick note to everyone to be sure and check our guidelines before submitting, and a clarification. We not only accept simultaneous submissions.... we strongly encourage them. We do not believe in holding on to a piece exclusively for any period of time, and we personally AS WRITERS don't submit to places who do. Not out of any kind of disrespect, or in trying to make some kind of point. It's just that there are plenty of excellent places to submit our work to, that allow for them.
That said... what we do not accept are simultaneous publications. In other words, if your work is currently online somewhere else... that is not the piece we want. Please send us something new. If you simultaneous submit something to us, and it is accepted elsewhere, send a withdrawal to us immediately and receive your heart-felt congratulations from us. Trust me when I say, we WANT your work to be published, even if it's not by us. If for some reason, you are unable to withdraw, or thought you had... but then we send you a note of acceptance, please decline it if your work has been accepted elsewhere. And send us something new! :)
We know mistakes happen... on both sides. Things fall through cracks. Sometimes pieces go up without the author being notified. It's total amnesty with us, don't be intimidated. We want nothing more than for you to succeed. There are no hard feelings. It's just an issue of professional courtesy and respect.
Besides... you never know when that bridge you torch is the only one that will take you back home safely.
And that's it! We are working on a great issue for you guys, and news of the PRINT VERSION is coming shortly!
Je t'aime,
Leigh, Judy and Michelle

Hello! I've got a ton of news to report:
FIRST, and the most important is that we are changing our
Publication
Schedule a little bit. Ya know, when we started this we were
blind with
love and we also couldn't see very well past the giant pies in
our eyes...
but we now realize, that a new issue every month, plus a print
edition is
just too much. Not that it's too much WORK, but with a little more
experience, we are worried about watering things down. Sixteen
issues per
year is a little much, we're afraid. THEREFORE, effective
immediately we
will be publishing the online version BI-MONTHLY rather than
monthly, and
we will publish on the 1st day of the second month. Therefore:
our new
ONLINE publication schedule is as follows:
2004 Schedule (remaining)
SEP/OCT Issue - Published October 1, 2004
NOV/DEC Issue - Published December 1, 2004
2005 Schedule
JAN/FEB Issue - Published February 1, 2005
MAR/APR Issue - Published April 1, 2005
MAY/JUN Issue - Published June 1, 2005
JUL/AUG Issue - Published August 1, 2005
SEP/OCT Issue - Published October 1, 2005
NOV/DEC Issue - Published December 1, 2005
The print edition will continue to be published quarterly. This
brings us
down to TEN issues per year. And we think that's perfect.
SECONDLY - and speaking of the Print Edition! We have our
subscription
prices ready!!! We have struck a deal with the printer and have
worked out
our first issue (pretty much. If you haven't heard back about a
submission, don't despair. There are several we are still
considering.)
The books will be a 6 x 9 paperback with a full-color cover,
and SIX pages
of full-color art inside, many more black&white illustrations
and photos,
and around 160 pages of the incredible writing you've come to
expect from
us. The print version will contain the final versions from our
ON DRAFT
feature, as well as a Best of Online section... you'll have to
buy the
book to find out if your favorites were selected. The rest is
all new
material, and it WILL blow your socks off. I promise.
eW SUBSCRIPTION PRICES:
$11.00 per issue
or
$40.00 per year
Therefore, if you buy a years subscription, you save a dollar
per issue!
The prices include postage for US only and ALL are in US
dollars. If you
are outside the US, please use PayPal to make your payments in
USD but
contact me prior to purchasing so I can find out how much your
postage
will be. The price won't go up by more than two US dollars
though... if
that much. It will only be the exact amount of the additional
postage for
mailing outside of the US.
THIRDLY - Advertising. Some of you are
publishers, some
of you have either self-published books or have had your books
published
by very small independent presses; or maybe you own your own
business and
would like to promote it CHEAPLY on a global level. No matter
your
objective, we've got two solutions for you. (NOTE: ALL money we
receive in
either donations or advertising goes into our PAY THE WRITERS
fund. We are
VERY SERIOUS about becoming a paying market, as soon as we are
able. And
collecting dollars from advertising is probably the best way to
do that.)
(1) Literary Newsstand
$5.00 per title
We are planning a section (depending on interest) called the
Lit Stand, in
which we will promote other lit mags, self-published books or
titles
published by small/independent publishers for only $5.00 per
title. The
format will be similar to the format in Poets & Writers, with a
picture of
the cover and a small blurb detailing the book, the author or
publisher
and OF COURSE the where-to-purchase information.
(2) Traditional AD
1/4 page ad - $15.00
1/2 page ad - $30.00
Full page ad - $50.00
We've got a couple of spots left, if you are interested please
email me
with the size you are interested in and I'll see what we have
available.
LASTLY, we now have our ISSN numbers (ONLINE: 1552-2342 & PRINT: 1552-2334)
and a mailing address! We're officially TOO LEGIT TO QUIT (thanks, Hammer. OH, and please don't hurt 'em.) For those of you who may be
concerned with sending money via PayPal, or if you'd prefer to
snail mail
your submissions (although please note... email submissions are
DEFINITELY
PREFERRED and will be answered much MUCH more quickly).

And dat's it. Thanks!! We LOVE YOU GUYS as always!

Welcome to ISSUE FOUR!
Wanna hear me whine? You do! Okay.... here we go. :) It's late, and I'm sick, and I'm so so tired. And the News Box is the last thing I'm doing. And I don't wanna. So you all suffer with me.
This issue is freakin' AWESOME, y'all. I'm serious. Our best ever, if I do say so myself. And if I wasn't so sick (and tired) I'd add all the cute little links and make the cute little jokes that make you all love and worship me, like I always do.
But what I'm really thinking is this. You guys know me. Deep down I'm not only super hot, but I'm also affable, to say the least. Some might say I'm downright hilarious... I might have to agree. Therefore, you can all insert all the awesome links and witty banter in your head and I can get some sleep.
I like this plan.
OH, one more thing before I chase a couple (or more) Vicodin with NyQuil, I didn't update the Can O'Spam or the Coloring Contest yet this issue. We DO have winners, lots of them, and to those three people, I sincerely apologize. I PROMISE I'll get your stuff up no later than the 31st. I love you, guys. I really REALLY do.
And don't despair. I'll probably be feeling chipper in a couple of days and I'll come in here and announce this fucking GORGEOUS issue right.
In the meantime, cut me some slack, jack. Shiiiiiiit... my mama didn't raise no foo.
I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.
*sniff&cough*AAAACHOOOOOOOOOOO!
WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to ISSUE THREE! It's hard to believe another month has come and gone, yet... it most certainly has. And boy howdy do we have a lineup for you. (Oh crap! Did I just say 'boy howdy'? If so, please substitute something much cooler in your head. Thanks.)
Check out the incredible artwork, by our Cover Artist: the very talented Tantra Bensko, plus Bean is back as well as Betty Seek. We've got an interview with an awesome band, the Palm Wine Boys, that you don't want to miss; Utahna Faith is On Draft, and the very popular Coloring Contest Winners Wall is all new! If you haven't submitted anything for it, you really should. It's so much fun, I had to play along this month.
Plus, the incredible Short Stories, Flash Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry you've come to expect from us. I don't think this issue will be one to disappoint.
I'd like to congratulate RANDALL BROWN, the King of Spam and winner of a Journal from the eW Gift Shop. We haven't had much interest in this contest, so if you guys want to win the prize you better start playing quick, or I'm sad to say, it will go away.
Don't forget about the Member Forum. We check in quite frequently, and would love to see you there. There is a chat room, and it is completely free. I've also added a Mailing List feature, so if you have a minute, please sign up. We will use it to send out submission calls, and subscription information, as well as reminding you when the new issues go up. I promise no more than two emails a month.... with most months only getting one. The only Spam I like is our Can O'Spam Contest.
I think that's it for news! Enjoy! And don't forgot to tip your waitstaff... these are some hard-working folks.
XXXXXXX's and OOOOOOO's,
Leigh, Judy and Michelle

Happy Summer, everybody! I apologize for being a little slow on news updates and submissions but hey. It's HOT. And it's not just the heat that will get you in Houston, but the humidity. ;) Sorry... I couldn't resist a stupid weather cliche today.
Anyway, I don't have alot of news to report, but I did want to make you guys aware of our new SPONSORS! YAY! We are well on are way to becoming a PAYING market! We've hooked up with Amazon, as so many small sites do... because it's free to US and costs you nothing to help us out. All you do is vist Amazon through our link (in the menu bar on the left) when you want to purchase something, and we get a small commission. That's it. You shop as usual, and it costs you nothing more. I also added a link to the Stop-Sign Anti-Virus software. It is truly a great product and company. I can't compliment them enough. The link provided in the menu bar on the left gets you a free scan. Don't be surprised if it comes up with ALL KINDS of stuff your other program missed.... in fact, be more surprised if it doesn't. Anyway, they are awesome. The Customer Support is awesome. And they saved my ass. So, there.
Also, we are still accepting donations, and hope to have our subscription prices up by our next issue. The print issue is coming soon! And, of course, the Gift Shop is always open. Great eW stuff, and good quality, too.
Lastly, I wanted to make sure you are all aware of our Links page. These are all links to places we love to hang out, and most are excellent markets for writers. And, we've just added a new one, The Journal of Modern Post which is a new market for letters and all things "post" related. It's a very VERY cool concept, and a very well-designed site. We want them to do well, so click on over and bookmark them.
I guess that's it for now. We love you ALL and will see you very soon! Keep those submissions coming!
MWAH!!!

ISSUE TWO IS FINALLY HERE!! Yes, yes, yes, I know... we are late. I apologize for that. I HATE being late. I hope that the extra time we took this month, to make sure we had everything ready is worth it.
We've got an issue loaded with breathtaking art... and an interview with Kristin Harris, the creator of the awesome webcomic Tomboy; and the On Draft feature with MaryAnne McCollister is outstanding. Her first draft is amazing, and it only gets better with revision. She was also a great sport with the interview portion... we know you'll love it. The Coloring Contest Winners Wall is up! Check it out... there's some great art, and it's all good fun. Also, we have two new pictures for you to choose from for our next contest. Play along. We don't bite. At least not in spots your boss or spouse might see.
The Short Stories this month are truly inspiring and amazing, as is the Flash Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry. We continue to be blown away on a daily basis by the submissions we receive. I don't think we've had a "bad" one, yet.
We've also activated the Archives, in case you missed last month's issue. And we have also been posting SPAM Prompts for our Can O' Spam contest. As always, the Gift Shop is open, as is our Member Forum. Stop by sometime and say hello. We would love for it to become a place for readers, writers and the editors to hang out. There is a chat room, and it is completely free.
Okay, enough blabbing from me. Sit back and enjoy. We've got a fantabulous (that's right...) issue put together for you!
Much Love and Many Kisses,
Leigh, Judy and Michelle

We have exciting news! Michelle Garren Flye has joined our editorial team! Read all about her on our Masthead, and send her a note to welcome her. Not only will she help us answer your submissions more quickly (yay!), she also brings her enormous talent, keen eye and huge heart. We are ecstatic she is here, and are positive you will notice her artistic contributions in our next issue. Yeah, man... trust me. It's all good.

Just wanted everyone to be on the lookout for rabid viruses! I was down with one for almost three days, the awful Sasser virus (similar to the Blaster that took down a fair portion of the internet last year) and it's a real bastard.
Luckily, the folks at eAcceleration got me hooked up with Stop-Sign Anti-Virus softare, and they also helped me clean the virus from my system. I mean, their tech support
went WAY BEYOND the call of duty, by talking me through everything - even helping me with stuff that didn't pertain to their actual software setup. And the pittance I paid for their software (it's seriously cheap, y'all), saved me hundreds of dollars and I didn't lose a single data file. OMG, do I sound like a commercial? I'm sorry about that. I'm just so happy to be back online. By the way, I had Norton Anti-Virus, which made me feel all warm and fuzzy. However, not only did it not protect me, it also didn't even find the virus once I knew something was wrong and ran a full scan! TWICE! Anyway, you guys check them out... Stop-Sign. Not because they are paying me (because they are not) but because they are a great group of people with an outstanding product, and real people on the phone lines that actually want to (and know how to) help.
Kind of unusual in this day and age anyway. And THESE are the people we should be supporting. So get on it...
Ciao for now,
Leigh
May 27, 2004
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: We are looking for ART for both Issue 2 as well as the Print Version. Photos, paintings, comics... you name it really. If it kicks ass, send it in: art@edificewrecked.com.
We are also needing some more coloring contest entries. Please do NOT be afraid of your "skill" as an artist, it's really just for fun. You don't even have to color them with actual crayons... you can use your computer. Everyone's pictures will be featured on the site. So come on... get to it.
OTHER NEWS: We will begin posting our favorite SPAM emails - daily! Please use them as writing prompts. If you submit a piece based on one of our SPAM prompts, your work could not only be published in our SPAM section, but your name will go into a drawing where one lucky person each month will be crowned the King or Queen of the Land of SPAM, and will receive an edifice wrecked journal from our Gift Shop. (Note: SPAM submissions are for the website only, and will not be considered at this time for the print version.)
I also wanted to remind you about our Member Forum. It is fully functional for all now -- even you dreaded AOL people -- and is a place where you can ask us questions and compliment our contributors. There is even a Live Chat! Just like on The Price is Right... come on down.
I guess that's it for now! Thanks for checking in. :)
We love you!

Welcome to Issue One of edifice wrecked! We've been absolutely overwhelmed by the response we've received so far and we are proud to present the amazing art our contributors have created, in both the written and visual forms! We have been so lucky to have received so many submissions... that so many trusted us without really knowing what they were in for. And we are not only honored by their choice to send us their best, but humbled by their genius.
We hope you enjoy our Premiere Issue as much as we have. We are featuring an interview with the lead singer of a awesome and hard-working "local" band, on the cusp of their big break and so deserving world-wide attention; the artwork of so many talented people, including the paintings of a child prodigy; a thought-provoking essay, short stories, flash fiction and poetry written by both well-published/award-winning authors, and writers for whom this will be their first publication. We even had a poet brave enough to be featured ON DRAFT. We've also set up a Member Forum** through EZ-Boards which is completely free, and hopefully will become an exciting and inspiring place where the writers, artists and readers of edifice wrecked can come together (**NOTE: AOL users are having problems accessing the board. Please be patient, it's being worked out. If you are a NON-AOL user and you have problems accessing, please shoot me an email and let me know. Thanks!)
We promised you variety, something different and unexpected. Most of all we promised you something beautiful. I believe we have delivered all of that, and more. Please flip through our virtual pages and enjoy watching the structure crumble.
